Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona (LAMA), an advocacy ministry of the Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA, released its October 27 newsletter with voting guidance, upcoming interfaith events and resources for Advent. LAMA says it works to connect “our Lutheran call to love our neighbors” with participation in public life.

The newsletter notes that the recommended October 27 mail-back date has passed. Arizona voters who still hold an early ballot may return it to an official ballot drop-off site or voting location in their county. Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Voters may also vote in person, and the newsletter directs readers to official Arizona voting guidance.

The edition includes a 2026 Arizona Voter Guide, available in English and Spanish. It also offers resources to help congregations prepare for election-related uncertainty, misinformation, intimidation or disruption.

Two community celebrations, called The Vote Is Sacred, are scheduled for October 29 at Prince Chapel AME Church in Tucson and November 3 at Flagstaff Federated Church, each from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The newsletter describes them as free, nonpartisan events of the Arizona Faith Network, featuring food, voter information and interfaith prayers for peaceful elections.

Two further meetings are listed for November 5. The Arizona Faith Network Social Justice Commission meets from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and welcomes people interested in justice and advocacy. The Faithful Voter AZ Committee meets online from 2 to 3 p.m. to support voting rights and share advocacy updates.

Looking toward Advent and Christmas, the newsletter highlights ELCA World Hunger’s “Filled With Good Things” resources and ELCA Good Gifts. It also shares materials connecting faith with financial decisions and an action alert concerning proposed U.S. Census changes. Charity and hospitality remain central to these offerings, as in the call to share bread with the hungry (Isaiah 58:7).

Finally, the newsletter invites comment on the ELCA’s reconsideration of its homelessness social message, with comments due by November 30, 2026.
