Born on July 18, 1933, in Valdosta, Georgia, she was the daughter of Henry Young Tillman and Neva Mathis Tillman. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to education and community, as well as a spirit of adventure and faith.
Following the death of her husband, Luther M. Cole, in 1960, Jeanette relocated to Jefferson County, Colorado, where she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She then transitioned to a role as a junior high school counselor in Evergreen and Arvada, where she was cherished by both students and colleagues for her dedication and compassion.
Throughout her professional life, Jeanette maintained meaningful relationships with many of her former students and colleagues. Her passion for education and guidance extended beyond the classroom, as she continued to connect with those she had helped over the years. Her faith in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was a constant source of strength and guidance, shaping her values and approach to life.
In retirement, Jeanette found joy in the natural beauty of Conifer, Colorado, where she enjoyed the company of family and friends. The tranquility of the mountains and forests became a sanctuary for her, offering peace and contentment. She was known for her love of travel, outdoor activities, and the simple pleasures of life, which she shared with those around her.
Jeanette is survived by several relatives, including her brother and sister-in-law, Young and Penny Tillman; her sister, Sara Tillman; and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of her Cole in-laws. She is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Her legacy is one of love, service, and a deep faith that guided her through life’s journey.
