Methodist Church Leader Shares 40-Year Service Journey and International Advocacy Efforts
Daily Sánchez, national president of the Women’s Federation of the Methodist Church of Chile, has shared her journey of over 40 years of service within the church. Her leadership began in the municipality of Victoria, where she founded the Damas de Blanco group more than two decades ago. This initiative has grown into a significant community effort, involving local leadership and social engagement beyond religious boundaries.
Sánchez recently represented Chile at the World Congress of Methodist Women and United Churches in Auckland, New Zealand. During this event, global representatives were elected for the next five years. In Victoria, the Methodist church on Calama and Urrutia streets gathers approximately 70 members, showcasing a vibrant and active congregation.
The church’s calendar remains filled with events. In January 2027, Victoria will host the National Women’s Methodist Congress, expecting around 100 participants to elect the new national leadership. Sánchez also plans to travel to Iquique from 8 to 13 October, followed by Valparaiso and surrounding areas from 15 to 22 October. These trips will focus on missionary work aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer, cervical cancer, and prostate cancer.
These health initiatives have already made an impact in the Southern District, including communes like Villarrica, Traiguén, Temuco, Loncoche, and Victoria. Sánchez’s efforts reflect a commitment to both spiritual and community well-being, aligning with the Methodist emphasis on service and care for others.
Her career exemplifies the Methodist tradition of active participation in both religious and social causes. Through her leadership, Sánchez continues to bridge local and international efforts, promoting health awareness and community engagement. This reflects the biblical call to love neighbor and seek justice, as seen in Micah 6:8, which emphasizes doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.
