PA Pastor Charged With 6 Crimes Related to Child Sex Abuse Material Following Sting Operation
Brad Swink, an assistant pastor at North Rome Wesleyan Church in Pennsylvania, was arrested in a child predator sting operation and charged with six crimes related to child sex abuse material (CSAM). The arrest occurred as part of a broader investigation conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police, in collaboration with the FBI and the Northeast Computer Crime Task Force (NECCTF), from April 7 to 11. Detectives visited 15 homes, leading to the arrest of six men. Swink was confronted by police at North Rome Wesleyan Church on April 10, where he allegedly admitted to viewing and masturbating to CSAM since 2022.
Investigators reportedly found on Swink’s phone videos of him masturbating to a naked child who was also performing sex acts. Swink is alleged to have shared CSAM on Snapchat using an account linked to an email beginning with “littlebillyboy8419.” He faces three counts of sexual abuse of children (possession), two counts of sexual abuse of children (production), and one count of criminal use of communication facility. An additional arrest is pending the results of a digital forensics investigation.
The other individuals arrested during the operation include Robert Michel, Calvin Shaffer, Evan Hitchcock, Brandon Lantz, and Robert Pillot. All have been charged with multiple crimes related to the possession and/or production of CSAM. The sting operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and use of CSAM, a crime that has garnered significant attention in recent years.
The incident raises important questions about accountability within religious communities. As Micah 6:8 reminds us, we are called to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. Such cases underscore the need for vigilance, transparency, and a commitment to protecting the vulnerable. Churches, as institutions entrusted with the care of their congregations, must remain vigilant in upholding ethical standards and ensuring the safety of all individuals.
The arrest of Swink and others serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in illegal activities, regardless of one’s position or influence. It also highlights the importance of digital literacy and the potential dangers of online platforms being used for harmful purposes. As Ephesians 4:15 encourages, believers are called to speak the truth in love, fostering a culture of accountability and integrity within the church and beyond.
