Qatar’s PM Condemns Israel’s Actions in Gaza, Calls for Accountability
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling the situation a “war crime.” Speaking on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Sheikh Mohammed described the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, as “a massacre” that “should be condemned.” He called for accountability for those responsible but stated the Israeli response was unjustified.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the targeting of hospitals and schools in Gaza, emphasizing that “whatever the justifications and the arguments, nothing is justifying this.” He criticized Israel’s near-daily violations of the ceasefire that took effect in October 2025, noting over 1,400 Palestinians had been killed since. He said more than 70 percent of the Gaza Strip remains occupied, and Israel has not fulfilled its commitments under the agreement.
The prime minister also accused Israel of undermining Qatar’s efforts to broker a ceasefire from the start of the war. He condemned Israel’s strike on Doha in 2025, which targeted senior Hamas officials during negotiations. The attack, which caused a deadly explosion, was described as an unprecedented violation of Qatar’s sovereignty.
Sheikh Mohammed stated that Israel attacked Qatar while it was mediating and pushing for a proposal by former U.S. President Donald Trump. He called the attack “unacceptable and condemned,” noting it set a dangerous precedent by targeting a mediator. He added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “crossed the line” multiple times.
Despite the challenges, Sheikh Mohammed expressed belief in the effectiveness of quiet diplomacy. Qatar, along with Pakistan, has played a mediating role between Washington and Tehran following the U.S.-Israel war on Iran. The prime minister’s comments reflect ongoing international concern over the humanitarian crisis and the need for accountability.
