Salem Lutheran Church Hosts Apple Festival to Support Community Needs
Salem Lutheran Church in Hermantown, Minnesota, is set to host its annual apple festival on October 24, marking the event’s 12th year. The festival will feature over 50 vendors offering crafts, baked goods, jellies, and jams. The event aims to bring the community together while supporting local initiatives.
The festival was inspired by a local baker’s passion for creating apple-based treats. Lisa Forsell, who coordinates the event, has been baking over 30 apple crisps and other goods to contribute to the gathering. Forsell explained that the idea of focusing on apples was a way to attract attendees, which led to the event growing from around 20 or 30 vendors to more than 50.
Proceeds from the festival are used to support various community efforts. Last September, the church matched congregational donations to provide snacks for Laura MacArthur and contributed jelly to the food shelf for Chum. Forsell emphasized the importance of these efforts in helping those in need.
The apple festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, located at 4715 Hermantown Rd., Hermantown, MN 55811. The event serves as a celebration of community spirit and a means of fostering local support through shared resources and generosity.
The church’s involvement in such events reflects its commitment to serving the community through practical aid and fellowship. By bringing people together around a shared love of apples, Salem Lutheran Church continues to demonstrate its dedication to local needs and collective well-being.
