The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Donates More Than a Million Soles to Peru Food Bank in Molina, Lima, Peru
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made a donation of more than one million soles to the Peru Food Bank. The ceremony for the delivery was held on Friday, January 26, in the morning at the regional offices of the Church in Molina.
Leslie Pierce, president of the board of directors of the Peru Food Bank, and Solomon Lerner, a board member, attended along with Daniela Osores, the food bank’s general manager, and other officials of the institution. Elder Jorge F. Zeballos, president of the Northwest South America Area, and César Hooker, manager of Welfare and Self-sufficiency for the Area, represented the Church.
The donation will support food rescue and the purchase of products with nutritional value, including legumes, cereals and groceries, to complement the daily food rations provided to the population. Sharing resources with people in need is a practice the donation reflects (Hebrews 13:16).
With the donation, the delivery of 600,000 food rations will be made possible. Technical training will also be carried out, and the cost of the equipment needed for the operation will be covered.
During the year, 7,200 people will have access to varied food through 80 common pots and 40 popular canteens. These programs serve different groups, including elderly people, women, children, adolescents, and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
