Israel Debuts National Defense Pavilion at Marrakech Airshow 2026
Israel’s Ministry of Defense and leading defense industry firms launched their inaugural national pavilion at the Marrakech Airshow 2026, marking a significant step in expanding defense cooperation with Morocco. This event follows the signing of the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations, including Morocco. The participation comes amid ongoing tensions with some Western allies, such as France, which has restricted or limited Israel’s involvement in defense exhibitions due to its stance on Israel’s actions during the Gaza war.
Despite these diplomatic challenges, Israel has maintained a commitment to the general ceasefire agreement with Hamas, which was established in October 2025. The IDF has adhered to its pledge not to invade Hamas-held areas in Gaza, though both sides continue to accuse each other of obstructing progress toward full ceasefire implementation, particularly regarding disarmament and reconstruction efforts. The Marrakech Airshow represents a strategic move to reaffirm Israel’s global defense partnerships and showcase its technological capabilities.
Eight Israeli defense companies displayed cutting-edge, combat-proven technologies at the exhibition, including loitering munitions, AI-powered robotic systems, autonomous navigation for UAVs, laser guidance for FPV drones, and satellite communications. These innovations highlight Israel’s leadership in defense technology and underscore its ability to provide advanced solutions across multiple domains. The presence of Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and Rafael further demonstrates the breadth of Israeli defense capabilities.
The Israeli national pavilion at the Marrakech Airshow is part of a broader strategy to enhance defense exports and international cooperation. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Defense’s goal of strengthening the IDF’s capabilities while also supporting the growth of Israel’s defense industry and economy. During the exhibition, Israeli officials engaged with delegations and government representatives from various countries, fostering potential collaborations and partnerships.
Brig.-Gen. (res.) Yair Kulas, head of the Defense Ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT), emphasized the significance of the event. “This exhibition served as a platform for expanding international defense cooperation and showcasing Israel’s technological expertise,” he stated. The pavilion not only highlights Israel’s military advancements but also reflects its diplomatic efforts to build bridges with nations that have historically been critical of its policies.
The participation in the Marrakech Airshow underscores Israel’s determination to engage with global partners despite ongoing diplomatic and political challenges. By leveraging its technological innovations and strategic partnerships, Israel seeks to reinforce its position as a key player in the international defense market while advancing its foreign policy objectives.
