A parishioner has been arrested for allegedly hiding cameras inside the women’s restroom at L.A. Pentecostal Church in Bell Gardens, California, according to KABC.

Church staff discovered the small hidden cameras on Sunday at the church’s location on the 8300 block of Eastern Avenue and called police, the Bell Gardens Police Department said.

Police said that footage from the cameras showed several young children and numerous unidentifiable women using the restroom. After reviewing the footage, investigators identified a suspect.

Church officials spoke with the man, identified as Stephen Ramirez, and convinced him to turn himself in. Ramirez was subsequently arrested on charges of invasion of privacy and lewd conduct. The charges are allegations that have not been tested in court.

Keeping children safe in a place of worship is an act of protecting the vulnerable (Mark 9:42).

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at (562) 806-7619.
